COCOTIQUE Celebrates Black Business Month

August is Black Business Month. Being a Black business owner in America is a testament to our innovation, resilience, and dedication. Despite facing racial disparities from education to economics, Black entrepreneurs and businesses continue to thrive and expand rapidly. In fact, Black women entrepreneurs are making significant strides building successful businesses.

Not only is August Black Business Month, it is also our 11th Anniversary. As we think about our journey, we also think about the many black owners that COCOTIQUE has partnered with. We want to highlight a few of these Black-owned brand partners. Check out the Inside the Brand features from our digital time capsule of our Black-owned brand partners who have helped us curate the gift of beauty for our subscribers each month:

Gabrielle Zalina, Owner & Master Stylist of én Love Beauty

Rachel James, Founder of PEAR NOVA

Toyin Odulate, Founder & CEO of OLORI

Delroy Reid, Owner & Founder of  Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Miko Branch, Co-Founder of Miss Jessie's

These are just a few brands we can mention in this post. We wish we could share all of our brand partners with you, but that could take some time. However, you can take a look at all of our past brand partners and see the rest of the Black-owned brands that we have worked with. We know being a Black-owned business it has its challenges, but we always remain inspired by watching how these brands are making an economic impact by creating numerous jobs and are increasing community empowerment by reducing the economic disparities. We also greatly applaud the brands that have sold their businesses to bigger non-black brands. Some believe the brand is selling out when they sell to the corporations. It’s just the opposite. These entrepreneurs are setting up for their next innovative project. They will repeat the cycle and expand their customer reach.  built have to support one another.

Richelieu Dennis, Founder of Sundial Brands better known for SheaMoisture and Nubian Heritage

Psyche & Vontoba Terry, Husband & Wife & Co-Founders of Urban Hydration

Shontay Lundy, Owner of Black Girl Sunscreen

We encourage you to support Black-owned business, as they provide a ton of products and services that meet our lifestyle needs. Lastly, we want to thank our brand partners for their support and wish them continued success in all that they do. We also thank our subscribers for their support and trust. We couldn’t do this without you.
