MARBELLA Paris Contest

I discovered the brand, Marbella Paris, at a Start-Up Innovation and Technology conference in Paris. Marbella Paris makes luxury skin jewelry using an exclusive dermo-adhesive technology that is also, importantly, hypoallergenic.

Founded in 2005 by Adeline Moniez, Marbella body jewelry is entirely handmade in France, using materials such as Swarovski crystals, precious stones, gold and lace. The brand offers a wide price range, for every budget from premium high end to affordable skin jewelry and tattoo-esque designs.

Marbella’s range of temporary tattoo-esque body art come in unique shapes and mimics jewelry pieces such as bracelets, ear cuffs and hair jewelry (great for a bridal look). The brand extended its range to beauty cosmetics using their technology to create a line of multi-use self-adhesive eyeliners, solving my problem of getting that perfect Cat Eye look.

I tried the Cat Eyeliner adhesive that had a slightly iridescent felt type texture. It was easy to apply. I just removed it from its carton support and placed it at the top of my lids, pressing along to make sure it stuck. I did have to fill in a tiny space with an eyeliner crayon as the length of the sticker did not reach my corner/inner eyelid, but it was really just a tiny space. I loved the look!! I wore them for an entire hot summer day and it stayed in place. The only issue I had was feeling a sensation of having something on my eyes. There must be a technique to apply the product to avoid this feeling. Despite this, I will definitely use my new Cat Eyes in the future and experiment with different shapes, textures and colors.

I next tried the self-adhesive Ear cuff that I applied to my earlobe. This particular model comes with a gloss product that is applied to the back of the ear cuff and allows for multiple applications. The ear cuff was an original look and stayed on despite my crazy dance moves. I did fear it would fall off but it didn’t! Unlike the cat eyeliner sticker, I didn’t have a sensation like I had something stuck on my earlobe.

In creating her brand and designs, Adeline Moniez was inspired by the culture of HENNA used to create elaborate designs on the skin of women from countries such as India and Morocco. In these countries, intricate henna designs are used during weddings on the bride’s hand (for example) or feet.

The brand is sold on the USA based website Ahalife.com. For more designs, visit Marbella Paris. For cool concepts and application, check out this video Marbella Concept.
