In 2012, La La Anthony launched Motives for La La, a cosmetics line created for women of color. The mineral based collection includes multiple products for face, cheeks, eyes, lips and nails--all ranging in color variation; and each product’s name was composed from La La’s life experience. We’ve witnessed La La’s acting chops in films like “Two Can Play That Game”, “Urban Massacre”, “Monster Island”, “You Got Served”, “Think Like a Man” and the recently released, “Baggage Claim”. We also get a glimpse of her real life with family and friends, on her VH1 reality series “La La's Full Court Life”. Now the multi-hyphenate is sharing with us—giving her secrets to balance and, of course, dishing about her Ultimate Beauty Arsenal.
You do it all: you're a mom, wife, actress, author and entrepreneur--and you make it all look effortless. What is the secret to successfully balancing career and a family?
Thank You, I appreciate the compliment! As a mom, a wife, and a businesswoman, it is unrealistic to think that you can finish it all in one day. So I’ve become okay with that and I kind of just take it day by day and try to get the important things done. It is definitely a constant balancing act, but I couldn’t even see it any other way.
What is in your Ultimate Beauty Arsenal – your top 3 beauty products you can’t live without?
I’m obsessed with the Motives for La La lip shine, which adds the perfect shine and pop of color to make you look red carpet ready within seconds. I love the Motives quad because everything you need is in there — it has foundation, contour, and highlighter. And I always have to have a nice scent because it sets the tone for my day.
After working so hard on your cosmetics line, filming and fulfilling duties with family, there has to be some down time where you relax and recharge. What is your absolute favorite beauty indulgence (this can be a spa treatment, favorite product, great workout etc)?
I love boxing it's a great workout and an amazing stress reliever!!!
What was your very first job out of high school? Is this the future that you envisioned for your life and your career even back then?
My first job was interning at the radio station with Ludacris. I always had great ambitions. I strive to achieve so much more in my career.
What advice would you give to other young women who are afraid to take the first step towards their dreams?
In order to be successful you have to let go of fear and embrace faith. And hope for the best and keep pushing.
