INSIDE THE BRAND: MANY ETHNICITIES

When it comes to hair care, we can all agree that texture is something that we all seek to work with. Not only is this search annoying, it can also be very expensive. Our brand partner for the COCOTIQUE KIDS Box, Many Ethnicities, has solved this dilemma for many out of her own needs.

Find out how Dr. Ena Hennegan created a hair care system for adults and children who have textured hair that ranges from 2A to 4C.

What inspired Many Ethnicities?

Many Ethnicities was created by Dr. Ena Hennegan. Dr. Ena is a board-certified family physician from suburban Chicago, whose three daughters each had a different hair type, texture and condition. She sought better for them: Better products, made with better ingredients that delivered better results.

After trying everything in the marketplace, she gave up on the mass-market naturals and the boutique brands that promised great results but whose products fell short and created her own. She launched the M.E. line of simplified and natural hair care products in June 2017. Dr. Ena recently was heralded by the Today Show as one of 40 Style Heroes – an honor she’s sharing with world-class actors, athletes, activists and artists.

Briefly describe your transition from medicine to an entrepreneur.

I have always wanted to help people, and have throughout my life. I have not left medicine, and continue to see a full patient schedule while I build my company, Three Daughters of the Doctor.

We are extremely excited about the Many Ethnicities line, because it has made a difference in the lives of our customers and their children. It’s been incredibly rewarding, and has made the commitment to this company worth the blood, sweat and tears.

What were the key takeaways about textured hair that you were left with after your research?

We had to address several aspects of hair that many other manufactures had missed: Texture and condition. We wanted to create products that would work for everyone whose hair was prone to the same challenges as my daughters’ hair and my own hair – from 2A to 4C.

What are the key ingredients in the Children’s product?

We are using many of the same, world-class natural ingredients in our children’s products as we use in our adult formulations. And this is incredibly important. Children’s hair needs just as much love – if not more.

Our proprietary blend of Acyl Lactylates, the surfactant package, is unique in this space. We bring efficacious moisturization in our shampoo, the rinse conditioner and the leave-in because the preservation of moisture is critical to hair health and styling. We are maybe the only brand in the world that utilizes the incredible conditioning properties of Hydrolyzed Pea Protein in our children’s formulation, and the results our customers see are incredible.

Our willingness to use other incredibly important essential ingredients such as jojoba, avocado, argan and moringa oils, as well as Vitamin B5, and Shea Butter set us apart, as well.

What are the benefits of these key ingredients?

Our ingredients were carefully selected for their scientific benefit, and then rigorously tested by our at-home test panel for more than two years before we determined they were ready for market.

What are the key ingredients in the Grown-Up Products?

Again, we are looking at hair holistically, and bringing a similar approach with comparable ingredients in our Many Ethnicities grown up and children’s lines. Our focus is on quality and results that our customers – big and small – can rely upon for healthy, manageable hair without all of the fuss typically associated with the daily and weekly care routines and regimens.

How do these key ingredients benefit our hair?

Health is health. Study after study shows that we absorb over 60 percent of what we put on our skin and scalp. We put the emphasis on mild, natural ingredients that deliver incredible results. We believe in comprehensive care.

Are these products for all hair types?

Yes! Whether your hair is curly, wavy, kinky or coiled, our products are designed to help you achieve your very best natural outcomes. Hair products should be created to work in the hair, and not on it.

We believe that our unique approach and super-concentrated product lines for adults and children not only deliver incredible results time after time, but also do so unlike anything else in the textured hair space today.

As a doctor, you are aware of the many chemicals used in our consumer products that can have a negative impact on our bodies. How important is it for your company to choose healthy ingredients?

It’s essential. There are plenty of ways to care for your hair. We chose natural for our family, and believe that there are many other people who have not yet found their best hair who will benefit from the straightforward, honest approach we’ve taken with Many Ethnicities.

What’s next for Many Ethnicities?

We are committed to our research and development process. We have a number of new products in R&D, but are not interested in becoming one of those brands that merely sprinkles some “magic fairy dust” on an old formulation and calls it new.

When we bring a new product to market, it will be the result of our research, our understanding of science, and a genuine need in the marketplace for specific outcomes or enhancement of the cleaning, conditioning, moisturizing or styling of beautiful natural hair.

Each of our customers who purchase the COCOTIQUE Kid’s Box will receive three full sizes from the Kid’s collection and a trio travel pack for the adults. What is the one thing that you’d like to leave them with?

We have been overwhelmed with the love and appreciation of our customers. There are people out there who have felt shut out of the conversation by beauty manufacturers – especially in the hair care aisle. We believe in true natural beauty and inclusion. We are inspired by the lives we touch, and will continue to create unique products that deliver unmatched results for years to come.
