When and how did the brand get its start?
Formed in 2008, Green Goo is a women-owned, family-operated business, and a B-Corp certified company. All of our products are made in the USA with 100% natural ingredients. We started small, making products for friends, family, and the local farmer’s market, and we have now grown into a thriving, value-driven company. We aim to make organic products more available and more affordable, while educating the world on sustainable business and healthcare practices. As we have evolved, we remain committed to our roots: a time-honored infusion process, high-quality ingredients, and simple, effective products. Together, we move forward with a deep commitment to producing pure products that are safe for you, your family, and the environment.How did Green Goo get its name?
Our company was originally called Sierra Sage Herbs, which remains the name of our parent company, while Green Goo was actually the original name of our First Aid Salve, one of our brand’s core products. Over time, as that product became synonymous with our company, we made the decision to change the name of the company altogether to Green Goo. The name is derived from the green color of our healing salves, which comes from the plants and herbs we infuse in each of our products.Why a natural deodorant?
The skin is the largest organ of your body and we believe strongly that it matters what you put on it. Green Goo all-natural deodorants go a step farther than simply fighting odor. They soften, calm, even, and nourish your skin. In addition, your armpits can be a sensitive area and with their proximity to lymph nodes, we strongly discourage the application of artificial ingredients and harsh chemicals in those areas in particular. Our plant-based, all-natural deodorants are safe, gentle, and effective. Given the alternative, we think the choice is clear.Is a natural deodorant for everyone?
We like to think so, yes, but we understand that not all skin is the same. Some people may need multiple applications throughout the day. Others may need to choose our magnesium hydroxide, solid deodorants over our aloe-based gels. For some, it may be necessary to wash a few times a day to remove the bacteria that causes our armpits to smell; then apply Green Goo. Then, of course there are people who need prescription grade protection. So, we think Green Goo can work for almost everybody, but maybe not everyone.What are the key ingredients of your deodorant?
The key ingredients in our deodorants are calendula, hops, aloe vera, and vitamin E. In addition, there is aloe vera in our gel deodorants and magnesium hydroxide in our solids. This powerful combination works together to fight odor, cleanse, soothe, and nourish your skin. Our deodorants are also aluminum- and baking soda-free.What are your suggestions for switching from an anti-perspirant to a natural deodorant?
Prepare yourself for potential moisture. Our product doesn't keep you from sweating, it fights odor. Sweating is a positive and necessary bodily function. If you're doing something active, consider an undershirt or a change of clothes. There are also some great wipes on the market. You may need to give your armpits a quick once over and then reapply our all-natural deodorant after exercise or periods of high activity. This is a positive change you’re making. A transitional period is expected, but your body and your skin will be healthier in the long run.What suggestions do you have to combat the perspiration?
You can wear lighter, more breathable clothing. Avoid spicy foods and caffeine. You can also eat smaller meals or include alternatives that are lighter, during the day. Digesting food often increases your body temperature. Adding more vitamin D to your diet can also help. If possible, avoid working out or vigorous activity during the hotter parts of the day.
