Lianne Farbes: TheMakeupGirl.net

At COCOTIQUE, we believe in the spirit of beauty through confidence, grace and optimism. In our COCOBlogger series, we feature women who exude those things through their personal brands, and have them share their favorite beauty and fashion secrets. In this post we present Lianne Farbes: Founder & Editor, The Makeup Girl.

In 3-4 sentences, please tell us about yourself and your blog?

I am best described as a person with an addictive personality (I can get addicted to shopping at CVS if the sale is right!) I never met a beauty product that I didn’t like! Some I love more than others, but just because it doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you! My blog is written from a makeup artist’s and skin care professional’s point of view even though I am a woman of color, because I feel that beauty is universal.

What are 3 products in your ultimate beauty arsenal and why?

NARS lip gloss (any color) because I love the color and texture; FACE Atelier Facade because I love multi-use products and this can go on my cheeks and lips as a stain; and Restorsea night cream because I love how it feels on my skin, and how it makes my skin look the next day.

What separates you from other bloggers?

Wow, great question but hard to answer. I feel like humility has always served me well. That and I love to learn—whether from my friends or other people/mentors that I meet along the way.

If you had 2 hours to pick out an outfit from head to toe, where would you shop and why?

Nordstrom! I love that store, I can always find great picks there (great sales) and they call me when things come in that they know I will like.

Above all else, what is your favorite kind of product to review?

Skincare!

What is the one skincare/hair care/fashion trick every woman should know?

Always use sunscreen NO MATTER WHAT.

What cosmetic ingredient(s) do you avoid and why?

Anything with glycolic acid above 5%—I had a bad experience once!

Do you have a Sunday night or weekend beauty ritual? If so, what is it?

Yep, I usually wash my hair on Saturday and do a deep conditioner. I also do a mask on my face—like a little mini facial, on Sunday night.

What has been your proudest blogging moment to date?

I wrote an article entitled “What is a BB Cream and Can Light Skinned/Dark Skinned Women Wear it?" that got picked up on a larger site. That was pretty cool.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

I am working on the fall edition of my networking event Cocktails & Couture, which will be a bit different this time around as a paid event. We will have more space so it will be a bigger event. Tickets are on sale now, so check the website.
